4 Reasons Why You’ll Love Working in Events

Do you love meeting people? Are you creative and have a flair for fun ideas and activities? Are you good at planning, organising and leading? If so, a career in event management could be just the thing for you.

But what are the benefits of a career in Event Management?

The events industry is growing

A recent survey by Eventbrite discovered that 18-34 year olds are driving the so-called “Experience Economy” by spending over £419,556,233 each month on attending live events in Ireland and the UK.

This figure is set to grow, with 66% of the study’s respondents stating they felt more fulfilled by live experiences than purchasing material possessions and 62% of them planning to increase the amount of money they spend on experiences over the next 12 months.

It’s not surprising then that 67% of organisers expect their existing events to grow this year and 57% expect to launch more events in 2016. This means that, if you are interested in becoming and event manager, you might not need to fill out numerous job applications because employment opportunities are many.

There’s a huge list of events jobs to choose from

Event Manager, Sponsorship Coordinator, Event Planner, Event Coordinator, Wedding Planner, Volunteer Coordinator, Conference Planner and Exhibtion Coordinator are only some of the events careers you can choose from.

Every day is different

In events, you can experience a huge variety in your work, dealing with different clients, different types of events and different venues all the time. You get to travel, to visit incredible venues, interact with very different types of people and be creative. You will continue to be motivated and fulfilled by your career for the long haul.

You will develop a great skillset

When you work in events, you gain a great mix of skills. You become great at dealing with people and challenges, comfortable making decisions under pressure and working with budgets; and develop your creativity, organisational and admin skill. These are all great transferable skills!
